Collecting samples

Samples of P. tremuloides were taken from a wet stand and a dry stand.
Wet environment:
- Better suited environment - Potential for seed germination |
Dry environment:
- Worse environment for the species’ needs - Unsuccessful sexual reproduction |
DNA Extraction

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
PCR is used to replicate sections of DNA using primers in order to see the alleles present in each sample.
Agarose Gels
We run gels to quantify whether we have DNA in what we extracted from our sample or not.
